Summary
This search was tedious and makes me glad I didn't take a pathway requiring heavy research and papers. The search functions do not all work the same. The deep web had better resources and you could refine the search without all the junk but you had to work for the others as well. I hope to get my books soon. I can't help that I even ordered one off topic that I had wanted to read the moment I saw it. Thanks for the fun!

ReplyDeleteI can tell you were frustrated by this assignment. I think you might have had better results if you used Internet AND expansion or Internet AND future to try and get to your topic. The book records have limited fields that are searchable and they do require structured language, not natural language. However, if you do find a helpful subject heading, you can cross reference to find more related works. Also, it's pretty amazing what you can tell about a book just from the book record, you can evaluate using ASAP and see if it's worth the trip to the shelves.
Summit can be great but also overwhelming and its organization is even trickier. A full text ebook search can zero in on your search terms which can be good or can find the one page in the book with your topic. They are good tools to know about and use as necessary.
